The deputy from the group “Revival” Valery Pisarenko said that the Verkhovna Rada is going to limit the powers of the future President Vladimir Zelensky. On this April 24, he said on his page on Facebook
“The Verkhovna Rada is preparing to significantly limit the powers of the president. The newly elected president can turn into a formal figure tangled in a complex network of government bureaucracy. I will not go into details, they can be seen on my site. I can only say that most of the conspirators’ proposals are unconstitutional, ”the deputy wrote.
Pisarenko argues that parliamentarians plan to limit the president’s right to appoint the minister of defense, the minister of foreign affairs, as well as the head of the Security Service and the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
At the same time, he believes that there are no prospects for the adoption of this bill, even if it will be possible to drag it through the first reading. In terms of opposition, the deputy promises to submit such a number of constitutional amendments that the Verkhovna Rada will consider them before taking the oath by the next convocation of parliament.
Earlier, the leader of the political force «Opposition Platform — For Life» Yuriy Boyko said that some members of parliament are trying to submit several bills to the Verkhovna Rada that would limit the rights of the president.
As Boyko stressed, his political force does not support such actions and considers them “a gesture of despair”.
