A deputy from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction Oleksandr Sugonyako registered in the Verkhovna Rada a resolution on the inauguration of Vladimir Zelensky on June 1. The draft resolution is published on the website of Parliament.
The explanatory note states that Zelensky himself wants to hold the inauguration on May 19, but this date is unsuitable because of the memory of the victims of political repression.
«It is worth noting that Article 3 of the Law of Ukraine» On the Regulations of the VRU «provides for the broadcast of the solemn meeting of the Council in full live on radio and television, as well as recording in the evening on television. At the same time, on the third Sunday of May, which falls on May 19 this year, the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression will be celebrated, ”the document says.
The deputy also believes that since the leaders of the partner countries and foreign delegations plan to take part in the inauguration, time is needed to agree on their work schedules.
“That is why it seems expedient to hold a solemn meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on the occasion of taking the oath by the newly elected President of Ukraine on June 1, 2019 at 10 o’clock in the parliamentary meeting hall,” said Sugonyako.
