The Golos party faction held a meeting at which they discussed Svyatoslav Vakarchuk’s plans to lay down his deputy mandate before he officially announced it.
This was announced by the deputy chairman of the Golos faction Yaroslav Zheleznyak, reports Rubric.
“We calmly discussed his decision at the faction … We had a faction before the official announcement. We discussed everything, he explained the motives, we talked about what will happen next, ”he said.
According to Zheleznyak, the news of Vakarchuk’s departure from the Rada «was taken well by everyone.»
“With all due respect to Svyatoslav, he was a member of the team, and decisions in the team are made collectively,” Zheleznyak said.
Zheleznyak called speculation reports that Vakarchuk resigned due to the position on the resignation of Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, refusing to sign the corresponding draft resolution in the Rada.
“All this is speculation. Now you can think of anything. It’s simple — it’s his personal choice, ”he said.
However, on June 18, the parliament refused to terminate the powers of MP Vakarchuk. 175 people’s deputies voted for the minimum required 226.
On June 19, Vakarchuk resigned from the Golos faction in order to achieve the early termination of the powers of the people’s deputy.
On June 26, at an extraordinary congress of the Golos party, the delegates decided to terminate Svyatoslav Vakarchuk’s deputy powers.
Instead of Vakarchuk, Alina Sviderskaya became the people’s deputy.
This is the second time that Vakarchuk has refused the mandate of a people’s deputy. In 2007, he was elected to the Verkhovna Rada on the lists of the Our Ukraine — People’s Self-Defense bloc. In September 2008, he submitted an application for resignation of his parliamentary powers, three months later the parliament deprived him of his mandate. Then, during his work in the Rada, Vakarchuk did not submit a single bill.
