The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court elected Valery Ishchenko, a former People’s Deputy from the BPP, who is suspected in the case of the seizure of UAH 20 million by Ukrzaliznytsia, a preventive measure in the form of nightly house arrest.
Details: The duration of the preventive measure is two months. The court ordered Ischenko to pass passports, but they will not apply an electronic bracelet to him.
What happened before: NABU investigated the theft of more than UAH 20 million from Ukrzaliznytsia. The scheme is simple: state-owned enterprises sold hardware products (screws, bolts, nuts, etc.) at inflated prices.
Almost all participants in this scheme received charges; their cases were sent to court. In addition, detectives found that one of the organizers of the theft is MP Valery Ishchenko.
Since 2017, a separate case has been investigated against him. According to the investigation, the people’s deputy controlled a group of enterprises that were used in the scheme.
However, the idea to attract Ishchenko was slowed down by the prosecutors of the SAP.
